World Homes Jamaica Limited is a locally registered Jamaican company formed to build affordable housing utilising the latest technology in prefabricated and local materials to provide cost effective housing solutions. Our vision is to provide Jamaicans with the opportunity to own an affordable home in beautifully designed communities.
The Principals of World Homes Jamaica, Ltd. have a combined experience of over 80 years in design, building, construction and development of residential, commercial projects locally and abroad. World Homes Corporation was established in 2001 to build affordable housing in Guyana whereby Mr. Edward Lai and Mr. William Lai, AIA worked with the Government of Guyana to build over 800 homes. Homes were designed to be affordable to the buyers and labor intensive to create local employment within the communities throughout the Country.
Mr. Edward Lai is a developer, financier and investor. Over the years Mr. Lai has developed and built thousands of low and middle income houses across Jamaica under Lai Corporation and Lai Realty Development, Ltd.
Notable is the New Kingston redevelopment project, with the design and construction of prominent buildings such as the Citibank (Sagicor) building, the first high rise parking garage for Citibank, the John R Wong Supermarket, the Courtleigh Tower apartment building, hundreds of houses adjacent to the Caymanas Park Race Track (which was also owned by Mr. Lai), as well as other existing commercial buildings in Kingston.
Mr. Edward Lai is a pioneer in the development of affordable housing in Jamaica. Leading the way in building large number of homes around the Island. Notable residential projects include Alexander Park (St Thomas), Cardiff Hall Estates (Saint Anns Bay), Homestead Estate (Spanish Town), Glenhaven Park (May Pen), Lauriston Estates (Spanish Town), Mt View Estates (Spanish Town), Eddiston Estates (Old Harbour), Havendale (St Andrew) and many other areas throughout the Island. He has also built many homes across Ontario and Western Canada under Morbay Property Development, and World Homes Corporation.
Mr. Lai is a successful Architect who has designed, supervised and built many landmark buildings in the United States as well as other major cities throughout the world. He has designed over 6,000 multi-family residential high rise units from affordable to luxury units over his 20 year career. Over the span of his architectural career, he has completed over 150 projects in the last two decades including residential high rise towers, offices, hotels, retail, institutional, government, transportation and master planning projects. Mr. Lai also designed and built over 800 affordable houses in Guyana. In 2008 William obtained his green building accreditation in the United States and has been a registered Architect in Florida since 2006. Mr. Lai is currently responsible for the design, development and construction of the affordable housing program in Jamaica.
